While visiting Southern Puglia with our mothers, my husband and I set out to find a special cigar experience. As a dedicated cigar aficionado, my husband was hoping to discover something unique, and Tabaccheria Flores in Brindisi exceeded every expectation.
From what we learned during our travels, opportunities to purchase premium cigars and legally enjoy them indoors in Italy are quite rare. Between smoking regulations and the limitations of many historic buildings, very few establishments offer this experience. Tabaccheria Flores is one of those special places.

What truly made our visit memorable, however, was the hospitality. This multigenerational family business is run by Gianni and his son Diego. Although Gianni speaks limited English and our Italian is far from fluent, both father and son went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Diego's excellent English helped bridge any language gaps, and together they patiently walked us through their humidor, explaining their offerings and helping us select several outstanding cigars—including some that are currently unavailable in the United States.

The lounge itself is more modest than some of the establishments we frequent back home, but it possesses an authentic charm that made us feel instantly comfortable. It had everything a cigar smoker could want: comfortable club chairs, ashtrays, excellent ventilation, music to create a relaxing atmosphere, and generous hospitality in the form of espresso, grappa, water, and great conversation.

We ended up spending a wonderful afternoon chatting with Diego about cigars, Italy, America, travel, and life in general. What impressed us most was how far they went beyond simply selling us cigars. They took a genuine interest in our trip, offered recommendations for the rest of our evening, and even personally called a local restaurant to secure us a dinner reservation through friends they knew there.

In a world where customer service often feels transactional, Gianni and Diego made us feel like honored guests. If you're a cigar enthusiast visiting Puglia—or simply someone who appreciates authentic hospitality—Tabaccheria Flores is absolutely worth a visit. It was one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip, and we left not only with excellent cigars but also with wonderful memories and new friends.
